Take a look at the images above. We are carving out the background and leaving the words or artwork raised and untouched. This gives the words and artwork a 3D appearance. Engravers can't do this type of effect. Engravers like you see in most gift shops online and in the malls only scratch the surface with a rotary bit. We are carving away at the glass in order to design the most elegant of glass giftware. In this site, we refer to our process as engraving or etching only because most people don't know the difference between what we do as sandcarvers and what everyone else does as surface etchers or printers. But make no mistake, there is a huge difference in quality and appearance of a sandcarved gift set. |
